(Undated) — A big winter storm is expected to bring snow to the southern U.S. this weekend. Winter storm watches and advisories are in effect from New Mexico to North Carolina, where snow and ice could impact up to 12-million people today and tomorrow. A state of emergency has been declared in North Carolina, which could see a record amount of snow this weekend. Anywhere from one to two feet of snow is predicted in the mountains and foothills of North Carolina in what the National Weather Service calls a once-in-a-generation event. In Texas, up to six inches of snow are possible in the panhandle, and flood warnings have been issued in east Texas. In Arkansas, up to six inches of snow are possible in the Ozarks, and significant snow is also expected in Northern Georgia and South Carolina.
