Coles County Clerk Sue Rennels wants to inform voters that Early Voting will begin Thursday, February 4 for the General Primary Election that will be held March 15. Any Coles County Voter with a valid registration may vote during the early voting period.
Any voter interested in voting early may cast their ballot in the County Clerk’s office in the Coles County Courthouse now thru March 14th.
Precincts in Mattoon, Humboldt, Lafayette, North Okaw, Paradise and Pleasant Grove may vote in the County Clerk’s office or at Mattoon City Hall Clerk’s Office.
Both the County Clerk’s office and the Mattoon City Clerk’s offices are open for voting, Monday-Friday, except on holidays.
No excuse is needed for Early Voting. It offers a chance for any registered voter to cast their ballot prior to Election Day. However, any vote cast is final and may not be revoked and the voter will not be eligible to cast a vote on Election Day, said Rennels.
Another opportunity for registered voters is to Vote by Mail. This is formerly known as Absentee Voting. Once again, voters do not need any reason to Vote by Mail. Applications may be requested by calling the County Clerk’s election department at 348.0524 prior to Friday, March 4.
