Illinois Jobs Numbers Show Frozen Illinois Economy
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois isn’t creating enough jobs to keep up with the rest of the country. The latest report from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, released yesterday, shows that the state lost 37 hundred jobs in August. The report also says July’s job gains totaled only 600, not 21 hundred like previously reported. IDES boss Jeff Mays says the state’s economy is ‘stuck in neutral.’ Illinois’ unemployment rate increased last month, the jobless rate is now five percent.
