A semi driver is facing charges after large pieces of her load spilled on I-57 near Effingham causing a series of crashes that injured another truck driver. Illinois State Police say a tractor-trailer driven by Shelli Ferguson, of Texas lost large pieces of metal and Ferguson drove off without stopping or trying to help. Three other rigs crashed into the debris, disabling two of them. The driver of one truck, Cedric Walker, of Tennessee, suffered minor injuries. Ferguson, who was being sought on a warrant, was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid or information, improper lane usage, driving with an unsecured load, and filing false logbook entries.
