Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, today announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of December.
Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 207 calls for service and initiated 1,424 incidents in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 601 citations and 705 written warnings, including 250 speeding citations, 4 DUIs, 165 seat belt citations, 2 child restraint citations, 225 written warnings for speeding, and 35 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 276 motorists, conducted 230 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 67 traffic crashes. There were 3 fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in December. During the month, 435 citations and 304 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
