44 Tons Of Chocolate Stolen In Germany; Thieves Are Missing
(Freiburg) — German chocolate thieves are missing after making off with 44 tons of the stuff. Police say two trucks loaded with nearly a half-million-dollars’ worth of chocolate were stolen last Friday in southern Germany. One truck that had pulled over at a rest area near the German-French border was recovered Saturday. The driver fled on foot and the trailer was still packed with stolen chocolate. The second trailer was found Saturday, also near the border with France. About two-thirds of the chocolate and the hijacker were gone. Police are searching for the thieves and appealing to witnesses to come forward.
