Two people were injured in an accident near Effingham yesterday.
Illinois State Police say a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Donta Johnson, of Chicago was northbound on I-57, lost control of the vehicle, skidded sideways off the road, through a ditch, up and embankment and into the woods where the vehicle struck a tree. Johnson and a passenger, 18 year old, Kenna Johnson, of Odin were injured and taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Donta was then taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for further treatment.
Donta Johnson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving on a revoked license. Both Johnsons and a third passenger, 24 year old, Shiquita Washington, of Chicago were cited for failure to wear a seatbelt.
