Illinois State Police Looking Into McDonough Sheriff’s Driving Call
(Macomb, IL) — The Illinois State Police are looking into whether McDonough County’s chief deputy helped the county’s sheriff get away with DUI. Troopers last week said they are reviewing a 911 call from 20017 that said a driver, who turned out to be McDonough County Sheriff Richard VanBrooker, may have been drunk. The county’s top deputy, Nick Petitgout, handled the call and later said the case was ‘resolved.’ VanBrooker is not running for reelection this fall, but Petitgout is running. The State Police aren’t commenting on the specifics of their investigation.
