Senators Durbin, Duckworth Want Detailed Plan For Quincy Home
(Washington, DC) — Both of Illinois’ U.S. senators say they want more than vague assurances from Governor Rauner about the state’s veterans home in Quincy. Democrats Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth yesterday wrote a letter to Governor Rauner asking for a plan to make sure veterans at the home are safe. Thirteen vets have died and dozens of others have gotten sick from Legionnaires’ disease since 2015. The senators say the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is willing to help if only the governor would accept the help.
