Alzheimer’s Cost Going Up
(Chicago, IL) — Alzheimer’s is getting more expensive in America. A new report from the Alzheimer’s Association finds that it’s costing more than 275-billion dollars a year to treat the five-point-seven million people with the disease. The report doesn’t include the cost of unpaid caregivers, mostly family members. That cost is estimated to exceed eleven-point-four billion dollars. It costs an average of 341-thousand dollars to provide care from diagnosis to death, more than two-thirds of which is paid out of pocket.
