Mississippi River Cleared Of Runaway Barges
(Dubuque, IA) — The runaway barges on the Mississippi River are under control. The Army Corps of Engineers yesterday said crews were able to wrangle the barges on Saturday. A handful of barges broke away Friday afternoon, and they blocked the upstream side of Lock and Dam 11. The Army Corps says the river is still high, but traffic is as close to back to normal as possible.
