Several local communities and townships will receive funding in the form of block grants from the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.
Ashmore will receive $500,000, as will Cottonwood Township in Greenup, for water distribution improvements; The Village of Greenup will receive $170,000 for a new water main distribution; Hunter Township in Edgar County gets $185,000 for water distribution improvements; Just over $103,000 will go to the Village of Watson for sanitary sewer improvements; Watson Township, Fayette County, the cities of Effingham, St. Elmo, Bridgeport, and Ramsey, along with Clarksburg Township, in Shelby County were each granted a half-million dollars for water distribution improvements; Willow Hill, in Jasper County will receive just under $115,000 to replace a lift station and upgrade its sewer lagoon.
