MATTOON – The Movies In Lytle Park series opens for a seventh season on Friday with a showing of Despicable Me3.
The computer-animated comedy kicks off a 10-week run of free, family-friendly Friday evening entertainment.
The summer tradition features a movie each week from June 1 to Aug. 10 except for Bagelfest week. The movies begin at dusk and play on a big screen across the road from Lytle Pool. Movie-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket for the first come, first served seating area.
The lineup this year includes:
June 1 – Despicable Me 3
June 8 – Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle
June 15 – The Lion King
June 22 – Paddington 2
June 29 – Wonder
July 6 – Star Wars – The Last Jedi
July 13 – Peter Rabbit
July 27 – Sherlock Gnomes
August 3 – CoCo
August 10 – Black Panther
Lytle Park and the Mattoon Public Library co-host the movie series with financial help from more than a dozen local sponsors, whose contributions pay for the movies and support the library’s Summer Reading program.
“We look forward to another season of offering quality, free, family-oriented entertainment each week through the summer,” said Lytle Park Superintendent Justin Grady and Library Director Carl Walworth.
