(Washington, DC) — The House is approving a massive Republican farm bill that contains cuts for millions of Americans on food stamps. The House narrowly approved the nearly 870-billion-dollar measure today which now goes to conference with the Senate version of the bill. The House bill includes controversial cuts of more than 20-billion dollars in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program known as SNAP. It also tightens work requirements for many people receiving government benefits. The changes are not included in the Senate farm bill.
