Governor Henry McMaster declared a State of Emergency yesterday in preparation of the storm, which formed into a Category 1 hurricane earlier today with winds at about 75 miles-per-hour. It’s expected to make landfall on Thursday and could strengthen into a Category 4 storm. Right now there are no evacuation orders in place for Charleston. The city’s emergency efforts include sandbag offerings tomorrow morning as well as a citizen’s information call line. Tecklenburg is meeting later with city officials to discuss the possibility of school and business closures.
