(undated) — Flood alerts are in effect from Indiana to New Jersey today. Slow-moving storms are dumping heavy rain across the U.S. ABC News says parts of Indiana and Missouri saw over six inches of rain yesterday, and over nine inches fell on parts of southern Illinois. Storms brought damaging winds to Kentucky, were a tornado was reported near Owensboro. Heavy rain continues to fall from Kentucky to New Jersey, and flash flood watches have been posted from Indiana to parts of New Jersey and New York.
Rainfall rates could exceed two inches per hour in the Ohio River Valley this morning, and parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania could see rainfall totals of six inches today. In the Northeast, the combination of heavy rains and strong winds could result in coastal flooding today, especially in New Jersey and Delaware.
