First Female Justice On U.S. Supreme Court Sworn In 37 Years Ago Today
(Phoenix, AZ) — Today is the first ever Sandra Day O’Connor Day in Arizona. It was on September 25th, 1981 that the Arizona judge was sworn in as the U.S. Supreme Court’s first female justice. She also served as the first female majority leader in the Arizona Senate. The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute are holding a round table discussion this evening with some of her former law clerks.
