(Tyndall Air Force Base, FL) — Air Force personnel feel encouraged despite the devastating damage to Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida following Hurricane Michael. In a news conference today, U.S. Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson said recovery efforts are under way at the base and progress is being made. She said civilians who work on the base are on administrative leave for now, so they’re still getting pay and benefits. Michael tore through the base as a Category Four Hurricane, tearing roofs off hangars, damaging aircrafts and decimating surrounding facilities.
