Honey Smacks To Return After Salmonella Scare
(Battle Creek, MI) — Honey Smacks is heading back to grocery store shelves. Kellogg’s announced today the popular cereal will be made available in November after a nationwide salmonella scare. About one-point-three-million cases of Honey Smacks got pulled back in June due to potential contamination. U.S. health regulators said the cereal was linked to more than 60 illnesses. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention closed its investigation into the outbreak last month. Kellogg’s says it will now produce the cereal, with an updated recipe, at its own facility rather than the third-party facility it was being manufactured at earlier.
