(New York, NY) — A New York judge is allowing the state’s attorney general to proceed with a civil lawsuit against President Trump, three of his children and the Trump Foundation. Attorney General Barbara Underwood is alleging that the Trump Foundation was supposed to give money to charity, but was really just another account for Trump and his family to do business for personal gain. The Trump family’s attorneys had tried to avoid the suit by claiming the Constitution had a clause that prevented the President from being sued. Justice Saliann Scarpulla shot down that claim, along with another argument that said the state court lacked jurisdiction. She said the case doesn’t deal with any actions taken by Trump after he became President and shouldn’t interfere with his duties as Commander-In-Chief.
