The brightest comet of 2018 is set to pass closest to Earth a week from today. On December 16th, the comet 46P/Wirtanen will pass by our planet at its closest point. 46P typically passes by Earth every 5.4 years. Space experts say the comet will probably not have an observable tail because it’s pretty small in size. But, for interested stargazers, 46P will appear as a small blueish object in the night sky.
