Tennessee Quake Second Strongest
(Decatur, TN) — Today’s 4.4 magnitude earthquake in Tennessee is the second strongest to ever be felt in the eastern portion of the state. The strongest to ever hit was a magnitude 4.7 near Maryville back in 1973. This morning’s earthquake was centered around Decatur, about two-and-a-half hours southeast of Nashville, and hit around 4:15 a.m. A magnitude 3.3 aftershock was also felt. Residents in Atlanta as well as in Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Kentucky also felt the quake. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
