Sadie Aileen Cordes, 83 of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 1:56 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2018, in Palm Terrace Health Care Center of Mattoon, surrounded by her family. She was youngest born November 23, 1935, in Jewett, Illinois the daughter of Charles Roy and Lola Lillian (Sheperd) Adamson. She was a former member of the Calvary Tabernacle Church of Toledo, Illinois. Aileen, married Jack C. Cordes, November 26, 1954, in Greenup, Illinois, and Jack passed away August 1, 1980. She then married Charles L. Cordes, June 5, 1981, in Montrose, Illinois and Charles passed away April 27, 2002.
Mrs Cordes was a Housewife and Homemaker and she also enjoyed working as a waitress, which was only an extension of her gift of her hospitality. Her home always an open door and a meal on the table. Aileen, was a very loving wife and mother and coming from a large family she knew hard work, long hours and family values which she carried on into her own family.
Mrs. Cordes leaves two sons, Jack David (Lana) Cordes of Mattoon, Illinois and Charles Daniel (Melody) Cordes of Chandler, Arizona; one daughter, Jacqueline Leann (Dwayne) Lovell of Charleston, Illinois; two step-sons, Edward Leon Cordes of Sikeston, Missouri and Kevin Lee Cordes of Mattoon, Illinois; one sister, Della Walters of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Cordes was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Jack C, Cordes and Charles L. Cordes; five brothers, William, Henry, Deon, W. Leon and Forrest D. Adamson; four sisters, Evelyn and Emily Adamson, Charlotte Burrow and Arlene Washburn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 4, 2019, in the Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Pastor, Ryan Mulvaney officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M., Friday, until service time at the funeral home. burial be in the Beals Cemetery, Trilla, Illinois.
