…Winter Storm to Impact the Area Friday through Saturday… .Precipitation will begin across central and southeast Illinois Friday afternoon as light snow and then change over to a mix of freezing rain and sleet. The freezing rain will continue into the evening hours but change over to rain as warmer air moves into the area from the south. Northern areas; including Bloomington/Normal, Peoria, and Galesburg will see the freezing rain change to rain after midnight. Snow accumulations across central Illinois will range from 1-2 inches while 2-3 inches will be possible along and north of a Rushville to Bloomington line. Ice accumulations across most of the area will range from one to two tenths of an inch while less than a tenth of an inch will be possible across eastern and southeast Illinois.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST FRIDAY NIGHT…
* WHAT…Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch. Less ice accumulation expected east of I-57. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of central, east central, southeast and west central Illinois.
* WHEN…From noon Friday to midnight CST Friday night.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS….As the temperature rises Friday evening the freezing rain will change to rain across the area.
