Illinois Senate To Choose New President Sunday
(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Senate is preparing to choose a new chamber president. Two leading candidates are majority leader Kimberly Lightford of Maywood, and Don Harmon, an assistant majority leader from Oak Park. Senate President John Cullerton announced his impending retirement at the end of the fall veto session on November 14th. Cullerton says he will step down after a new president is chosen at a special meeting Sunday.
