LifeSpan Center Reopening Plan
Due to COVID-19, the LifeSpan Center has been closed to the public since March 16th. Staff have been diligently working remotely, allowing client contact with staff through email, phone calls, or video calls, such as Zoom. SBLHC Peace Meal program has continued supplying meals to older adults, on a carry out basis. Dial-A-Ride Public Transportation remains vital to our community by transporting those medical appointments and for pharmaceutical needs, such as picking up medications.
With that said, we hope to reopen soon, but responsibly. Though we serve all individuals in community, under these circumstances we must make our top priority the older adult population we serve. They are potentially impacted the most.
LifeSpan Center has a plan and will determine the transition between phases when the criteria that pertains to each phase has been met locally.
Phases 1 and 2 March 16, 2020 – Present
LifeSpan Center facility closed to the public, all activities on-site cancelled or postponed with the exception of Peace Meal performing carry-out meal service only. Most staff working remotely.
Phase 3
Step 1 (TBD): Based on guidelines: rate of infection among those tested is stable or declining.
-Staff report to work at Lifespan Center facility. Face coverings required when strict social distancing is not possible (common areas, meetings etc.).
-Each staff member will be given 2 reusable, washable face coverings (unless they choose to use their own)
-Peace Meal carry out service continues, no congregate meals onsite
Step 2 (At least one week after Step 1)
-LifeSpan Center Facility partially opened to the public
-FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED BY ALL WITHIN THE FACILITY IF SOCIAL DISTANCING IS NOT POSSIBLE, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
-Only the front entrance (nearest to the flagpole) will be available for entry by the public.
-Entrants will be limited into the facility and a screening station will be set up in the front vestibule area.
NOTE: Face coverings will NOT be provided by Lifespan for participants but will be required for entry.
-Front desk volunteers return, to resume answering phone calls, scheduling appointments once a timeframe has been established. Only ONE person will be allowed behind the desk at a time.
-Each welcome desk volunteer will be given 1 reusable, washable face covering (unless they choose to use their own)
Some activities MAY resume if required guidelines are feasible and can be enforced. Gatherings limited to 10 or fewer. NO REFRESHMENTS WILL BE ALLOWED.
Schedules of activities are likely to change from previous days and times to coordinate with space requirements and to limit the number of people in the facility in close proximity. The activity schedule will be announced as far in advance as possible.
NOTE: The LifeSpan Center will continue to be closed; we will notify the public through a press release and social media of our reopening. The LifeSpan Center reserves the right to modify this plan at ANY time it may be deemed necessary for the safety of the participants and/or staff.
