Worldwide Debt at Record High
(Undated) — Worldwide debt is at a record high. Global debt, which comprises borrowing from households, governments and companies, grew by nine trillion dollars, to nearly 253 trillion, in the first nine months last year. The biggest problem countries are New Zealand, Switzerland and Norway, all of which have rising household debt levels, while government debt to GDP ratios in the US and Australia are at all-time highs. debt levels are lower in emerging markets, but are rising fast.
