Representative Chris Miller: $2 Million in Community Development Block Grants Announced for 110th District
Oakland, IL – Four communities in the 110th District are in line for a total of $2 million in Community Development Block Grants, according to State Representative Chris Miller (R-Oakland).
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is one of the longest continuously run programs at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Although federally funded, DCEO administers the program, and awards funds to support local community development activities such as affordable housing, anti-poverty programs and infrastructure development. The communities receiving grants are:
- $497,121 to rehabilitate 9 housing units in Mattoon;
- $500,000 for waste-water treatment plant process improvements and sewer lagoon improvements in Neoga;
- $500,000 for central section target area water main replacements in the Village of Ashmore;
- $500,000 for conduct sewer plant and lift station upgrades in the Village for Humboldt.
“These grants are great news for these communities,” Miller said. “The CDBG grants will help Mattoon, Neoga, Ashmore and Humboldt better afford the infrastructure improvements these communities need. I am pleased these communities were able to get the grant money they need and quite frankly deserve.”
