Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, today announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of May. Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 237 calls for service and initiated 1,898 incidents in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 1,082 citations and 898 written warnings, including 611 speeding citations, 7 DUIs, 135 seat belt citations, 12 child restraint citations, 258 written warnings for speeding, and 32 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 204 motorists, conducted 321 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 95 traffic crashes. There were 3 fatal traffic crash investigated by District 12 in May.
During the month, 314 citations and 360 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
