Illinois House Overrides Governor, Passes Budget And Tax Hike
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois has a budget for the first time in more than two years. And a 32-percent income tax increase to go along with it. The Illinois House yesterday voted, without a single vote to spare, to override Governor Rauner’s vetoes. Illinois’ personal income tax will jump 32-percent and the business tax rate will jump 33-percent. All told, the tax increases will mean more than five billion-dollars more for state government.
