According to WCIA online, Danville School could be closing down due to a bus company and their Union. Members say they are not happy with First Student and their contracts with them. Drivers are at a “cooling period” for 21 days and will meet on October 30th, and if demands aren’t met they will start striking on November 3rd. The parents of students are aware of what could happen and the Danville School District is trying to find other ways for students to have safe transport to and from school. Mass transit is one idea, but aren’t sure if it will be a viable option and with parents working, it can put hardship on parents to get their children to school. If no solution is thought of the worse case scenario would be the district cancelling school altogether. They are hoping that won’t happen and are still in negotiations for holidays and wages to be compromised from both the Union and the members. Until the meeting the school is patiently waiting and hope terms can be met for both parties to be happy and have less stress for students and parents.
