A Mattoon resident faces multiple charges following a personal injury crash on I-57 south, at milepost 236, the morning of Tuesday, May 15th. Preliminary details from Illinois State Police District 10 indicate Rachel Pike, 33, of Mattoon, IL (unit 1) was southbound and traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon approaching a freightliner driven by Judy Moore, 35, of Tarentum, PA (unit 2) Pike failed to slow down and stuck the rear of unit 2. Moore suffered no injuries, while Pike was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Pike was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and following too closely.
