New figures from the state board of education show that more than half of the school districts in the state are operating in the red. The financial profile scores reveal that most districts are borrowing or dipping into reserves to stay afloat. Among the 32 districts in the worst financial shape, called Financial Watch, are schools in Chicago and Will County’s Lincoln-Way Community High School District 201. Conversely, there are five-hundred-68 schools this year in the healthiest financial shape, called Financial Recognition, up slightly from last year.
