Advocates are asking Illinois lawmakers to raise the statewide smoking age to 21-years-old. Chicago leaders voted last week to hike the smoking age in the city, and now lawmakers are looking to follow suit. Smoking opponents say a higher smoking age will mean fewer young smokers, but opponents to the plan say hiking the age to buy tobacco will drive people to the black market.
