According to an MPD press release, Mattoon police arrested Alexander D. French, age 23 of Mattoon, on Wednesday March 23rd at 1:04 a.m. at the MPD. French was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. The charge alleges that French threatened another man with a knife during an argument. The incident occurred in a parking lot near Broadway Ave East. French is alleged to have cut the man during the argument. The victim sustained minor wounds to his hand and arm. French was taken to the County jail.
