Mattoon police arrested Mikyel D. Patton, age 29 of Hazelcrest, IL., on April 7th at 2:21 p.m. in the 2200 block of Charleston Avenue. Patton was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Mob Action. The charges allege that Patton was among a group of men that beat a man with a baseball bat on the evening of March 25th. That incident occurred in the 2300 block of Commercial Avenue in Mattoon. The victim was treated at SBLHC and is recovering.

Furthermore, Patton is also alleged to have participated in the beating of another man on the evening of April 3rd. That incident occurred within a house in the 2200 block of Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. The victim in that case was beaten by a group of 4-5 suspects with a beer bottle and a crowbar.
Both victims received injuries to their head, face, arms, and legs. Both were sent to SBLHC for treatment. Both are recovering.
Adrian L. Vasquez, age 32 of Mattoon, is a person of interest and is sought by Mattoon police for questioning in regards to both of these cases. Vasquez frequents Mattoon, Charleston, Arcola, and Houston, TX.
