Good news for parents of school students in the State of Illinois who suffer from dyslexia.
State Representative Patti Bellock has passed legislation out of the Illinois House of Representatives which defines dyslexia in order to ensure that the State Board incorporates the definition into both general and special education curriculum.
Bellock says that putting the definition of dyslexia into the state education code under general education and not just under special education will be of great benefit since so many of our children never qualify for special education services even though they may have the learning disability. The measure which was given unanimous approval in the House and now moves on to the Senate for their approval.
