According to 24/7 News Source, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and eight of her counterparts from across the country have written to some big name retailers, complaining about what’s called “on-call scheduling.” The state officials say the practice of scheduling shift workers with only a few hours’ notice is unfair to those who have to scramble to arrange child care or transportation in order to get to work on time. Some stores like Gap, J.Crew and Victoria’s Secret have already agreed to end on-call scheduling, but now the attorneys general have sent letters to American Eagle, Aeropostale, Payless, Disney, Coach and several other stores.
