Genevia Marie Jones age 82 of rural Newton passed away at 12 noon April 12, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
A Memorial Gathering will be held for Genevia from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Wheeler Christian Church, Wheeler, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded to Genevia.
Genevia was born on October 2, 1933 in Cumberland County, Illinois the daughter of Lee Augusta and Goldie May (Miller) Sowers. On September 15, 1950, Genevia married Maurice Jones and he survives. In addition to being a homemaker, Genevia was a driver for the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS).
Genevia will be loved and remembered by her husband Maurice Jones of Newton; sons Gerald Dean Jones of Missouri and Jamie Jones of Newton; daughters Jenny Lee Haegerfeld of Missouri and Genece McElroy, husband Randy of Nokomis; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild; brother Roy Sowers of Jewett; sisters Doris “Dot” Kingery of Missouri and Marge Brummer of Jewett.
Her parents, son Gale Maurice Jones, and infant daughter Glenda D. Jones preceded her in death.
