The University of Illinois will be paying out more than six-hundred-thousand dollars to settle abuse claims against student athletes. Three-hundred-75-thousand-dollars will be paid following a federal lawsuit by seven former women basketball players who claimed the coaching staff created a racially hostile environment. The university will also pay two-hundred-50-thousand-dollars to clear up any legal claims made by former football coach Tim Beckman. Beckman was fired after he was accused of forcing players to play through injuries.
