Widow Seeks Survivor Benefits

The widow of Fox Lake police officer Joe Gliniewicz is trying to cash in on his pension.  Melodie Gliniewicz is seeking survivor benefits as she awaits trial for her alleged role in her husband’s scheme to siphon money from the police youth program he ran.  Joe Gliniewicz staged his suicide to look like a murder last September, just as authorities were learning that he apparently took tens of thousands of dollars from the Police Explorers.  Prosecutors claim his wife participated in the scheme by helping to hide the stolen money.
