Run for the Bagel 2016 marks 29 years of this race held along with Mattoon’s Bagelfest Celebration each year. The race offers a 5K, 10K and a one-mile fun run with awards given by race, age and gender. The One Mile Fun Run will offer awards for the overall male and female finishers. Participants will enjoy an early morning start time that will take them down partially shaded streets in Mattoon and Lytle Park. Water stations will be along the way as well as a refueling station at the end of the race.
This year’s race will be held on Saturday, July 23 with a NEW start time of 6:30am. The starting line is at 19th and Broadway with all races finishing at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA, where the awards ceremony will begin at 7:30am for the 5K, followed by the 10K awards.
The fee is $25 per participant for the 10K and 5K while the One Mile Fun Run is $10 through July 22nd (but we recommend you register by July 1st to guarantee a race shirt). Same day registration fees will increase by $5 for all races. Online registration may be completed at www.getmeregistered.com/runforthebagel or www.mattoonymca.org. (Online registration closes at 11:59pm on 7/20). Register in person at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA before 7pm on 7/22/2016.
