According to Eastern Illinois University’s Health Services, a mumps outbreak has occurred at the college. The outbreak has affected 10 students as of Friday. Health services is working with local and state health officials evaluating and managing the outbreak. Initial symptoms of mumps can include low-grade fever, headache, muscle aches, fatigue and loss of appetite and eventually pain and swelling of the glands in front of the ears. Students with signs or symptoms are urged to call Health Service at 217-581-3013 or 217-581-2727 before taking a trip to the clinic.
