One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident last night in Richland County. According to the Illinois State Police, a vehicle driven by Molly Schmidt was northbound on Illinois Route 130 when she struck standing water and lost control. Her SUV overturned in the northbound lane. Paris Cooper, the driver of a tractor-trailer said he was blinded by headlights from Schmidt’s vehicle, and then hit the standing water reducing visibility even more. Cooper then collided with Schmidt’s vehicle. Schmidt was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital. Each was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
