Two people were injured in an accident in Effingham County at midnight. According to the Illinois State Police, a pickup truck coasted through a stop sign at the intersection of 2100 Avenue and Route 33 and struck the tandem axle of a semi trailer. The driver of the pickup and his passenger were air lifted to Carle Hospital. The driver was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol, no seatbelt, disobeying a stop sign, and no valid insurance.
