A couple weeks ago, a fundraising event was held in Charleston in support of staff who had been laid off from Eastern Illinois University due to the state budget impasse. The event was called “Fundfest” and the tally on the amount raised is in. More than $12-thousand dollars in relief funds came in through the event despite rainy conditions on the day it was held. Now the Support EIU Employees board members will finalize and vote on the best way to allocate those funds.
