Texting while driving is not only dangerous, it has led to the fatality of a pedestrian in Mattoon. The month of June will be a stepped up enforcement period against cell phone use while driving. Officers will concentrate on stopping motorists who are on their mobile devices and will take a zero tolerance stance for motorists who choose to text and drive. If you are stopped for texting while driving, you will receive a state citation.
