Illinois’ lack of a state budget is costing the state even more money. Treasurer Mike Frerichs yesterday said the budget impasse is costing Illinois two-point-six million dollars a month in investment income. Frerichs says the budget uncertainty is forcing him to invest in short-term gains, as opposed to long-term payoffs.
