Illinois’ recent lack of rain coupled with 90-degree heat has the state’s farmland dry and warm through the first half of June. A new report from the University of Illinois says soils temperatures are about 84-degrees. That’s almost five degrees warmer than last year. The soil is also dryer. The report says soil moisture fell 35-percent in the first half of the month.
