Travelers are asked to use caution on I-57 NB Milepost 250 (Rantoul Exit)
Troopers are on-scene trying to aid in the recovery and rescue of cattle from an overturned cattle hauler. Travelers may need to use caution as the Troopers are coordinating this effort with the Rantoul Fire Department, who are assisting the Troopers by spraying down the animals with cooling water. A local contractor will be on scene to assist in off-loading the live animals with pens and U of I Veterinary Medicine will assist in helping save as many cattle and calf as possible. Reynold’s towing will be on-scene shortly as well to assist in uprighting the overturned vehicle in coordination with the Illinois State Police and U of I Vet Med.
Travelers are asked to use caution through the ramp area of I-57 NB due to the large number of individuals attempting to rescue this livestock load which was headed to a farm in Iowa.
